Votes

Data source: LegInfo

Our database includes records of how each member of the California State Legislature voted on every bill.

The official record of this information is published on LegInfo, a site maintained by the Legislative Counsel of California, pursuant to California law. The bill information is updated nightly after the Legislature has completed its work for the day.

We receive this data from LegInfo in the early morning on a daily basis. On a given day, MapLight will display all bill actions (such as introduction, passage, enrollment or veto) up through the previous day.

We currently include recorded floor votes and committee votes. We include votes on amendments to bills, as well as votes on the bills themselves. Often votes on amendments are more interesting than votes on the final bill.
