DATA RELEASE: Campaign Finance Data for California's 36th Congressional District Special Election (updated 7/12)

July 12, 2011 - The special election to replace retired Rep. Jane Harman today will decide between Democrat Janice Hahn, a Los Angeles councilwoman, and Republican Craig Huey, a small business owner.

According to a MapLight analysis of campaign finance data from the Federal Elections Commission (FEC), Hahn has raised just over $1.3 million dollars, with over $871,000 coming from contributions provided by individuals and $438,000 coming from PACs. Huey has raised almost $1.1 million, including over $883,000 in self-financing. The remainder of Huey's contributions are comprised of almost $153,000 from individuals and over $31,000 from PACs.

Includes all reported contributions as of 7/12/11. Does not include contributions of less than $1,000 since Jun. 22. Contributions under $1,000 received after Jun. 22 do not have to be reported until after the election. Contributions over $1,000 must be reported within 48 hours.
