Government Transparency by Ryan Birss, Jul 14, 2008 (8:34pm)

HR 170 hopes to make government actions more transparent. It would amend the Ethics in Government Act of 1978. Some of the changes would include full-disclosure of privately-funded trips by house members. It would also place bills and amendments on the internet before they were voted on. Also, it would require that government data should be placed on the internet in a “searchable and sortable manner.” Overall, these changes seem like good ideas that can hopefully make the members of the House more accountable for their actions.
