Internet Freedom vs. Private Information by Danny Rogers, Jul 2, 2008 (11:40pm)

This bill seems like a solid bill that helps consumers protect their privacy and computers from malware. It enjoys support from much of the industry, especially compared to a similar bill H.R. 964, with some skepticism in regard to information gathering that many online companies seem to enjoy so much that they use to target their audience. I would like to see the EFF’s position on this bill, as they oppose H.R. 964, but as of now they have not released a position. We should be weary of government intrusion into the web, since as soon as they get a grasp they won’t be likely to let go, and if they aren’t careful, a well intentioned bill can cause more problems than it solves.
