Connecting lawyers and victims to end domestic violence by Peter Volberding, May 30, 2008 (10:43pm)

S. 1515 greatly enhances the protections available for victims of domestic violence. Nearly 1 in 4 women will be a victim of abuse in her lifetime, affecting not only her, but millions of children as well. This bill expands opportunities for women to obtain accessible, safe, affordable, and effective legal services that for many would be unattainable. Principally, it creates a national referral database that helps connect attorneys wishing to work pro bono with those victims that are incapable of accessing legal services. This added protection is indispensable for continuing and furthering protections against domestic violence.
