Bill protects shipbuilders from illegal copying of their designs by Lechuan Zhou, Mar 5, 2008 (3:18pm)

The Vessel Hull Design Protection Amendments clarify the definitions of a hull and deck in order to guard against “hull splashing”, which is a copycat process in which a mold from another manufacturer’s vessel hull is used to manufacture copies. Supporters of this bill believe that it will protect shipbuilder’s jobs and designs.
