Increase funding for LIHEAP by Ryan Birss, Aug 11, 2008 (9:58pm)

This bill will give money to elderly, poor, and other people that can not afford to pay their electricity bills. I think this is a good idea. However, it is interesting how many oil, gas, and utilities companies support it. It would be unfortunate that a bill that is suppose to help those in need might end up putting lots of money indirectly in the hands of energy companies. The bill was recently filibustered. However, it will look to be voted on again when the Senate returns from vacation.
