Stricter records of gun transfer by Casey Fulmer, Feb 3, 2009 (5:12am)

This bill would require generating and maintaining more documentation in gun purchases and transfers, particularly at gun shows, requires universal background checks and safe home storage, lays out guidelines for obtaining and revoking licenses, and mandates immediate reporting to authorities when a firearm is lost or stolen. All of these items are steps toward increasing responsibility in gun handling and use.

Opponents to this bill largely cite discomfort with repercussions at gun shows, fearing a single negligent dealer could cause the closing of the entire show, and an aversion to the idea of criminal negligence in the case of failing to report and license immediately report a lost or stolen firearm.

Another Camouflaged Constitutional Amendment by Anonymous, Feb 28, 2009 (1:00am)

Once again the far left is trying to further shred our Constitution by amending it via legislation. The second amendment uses the word ‘infringed’. Can someone please tell me how HR 45 is not an attempt to infringe my right to ‘own and bear arms’? Please?
Is there no one in the entire country with the money needed to take Congress to court to stop them from ignoring their oaths to defend that document?

Gun Control by Supershot, Jul 15, 2009 (9:46pm)

gun control by Anonymous, Aug 18, 2009 (3:05pm)

The american way of life is being attacked by our government, under the guise of saftey. Hitler, Stalin, and other despot government dictatorships all do the same thing. It can’t happen in America? Think again, gun control is the first step.

HR 45 by Anonymous, Aug 22, 2009 (11:36pm)

This is just another step toward complete government control. all you idiots who beleive in this bill should be stripped of your american citizenship and shipped off to another country. If you beleive in government control you dont beleive in america. GUNS DONT KILL PEOPLE...PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE. THIS BILL WILL NOT SOLVE ANYTHING PEOPLE CRIMINALS WILL STILL GET THEIR HANDS ON GUNS TO USE WITH CRIMINAL INTENT. JUST LIKE DRUGS THEY ARE ILLEAGLE BUT POEPLE STILL CAN BUY THEM ON THE STREET.

You gun nuts make me laugh by Anonymous, Aug 28, 2009 (10:52pm)

Really? Are actually comparing our current president to Hitler and Stalin? Turn of fox news, stop reading right wing, racist websites, and realize that really, no one is out to get you. Does your whole life revolve around owning guns? that’s sad.

HR 45 Is In Fact Contravention of The Right to Bear Arms by T. John Roberts, Sep 1, 2009 (9:37pm)

This bill as written is an attempt to mandate licensing of the rights of our citizens. It is very plain indeed. Logically speaking, if one can grant the license, one can simply revoke it, thereby abridging the rights of each individual. Once the “license” is revoked, the individual from whom it was revoked can no longer own any firearm but an antique. Therefore, this bill is in fact a means of contravention upon the 2nd amendment of the United States. I have not owned a weapon in over 25 years. Now, I am compelled to purchase several for the purpose of defending my rights. If you do not believe in guns, that is okay, it is not the point here. Our other rights will be infringed upon in similar fashion if we allow this to pass. The reason this right is singled out is because of the division it creates amongst us. It is much easier to divide and then conquer. We must be united in our effort to stop any infringement of the constitution of the United States. If we do not, the entire bill of rights will eventually be circumvented.

Resisting unConstitutional "laws". by Anonymous, Sep 6, 2009 (5:55pm)

There already exist lawful means of resisting such obvious attempts to turn our country into a fascist tyranny. All we need to do is revisit them and apply them.
