Whistleblower Protections with More Weight by Karen Chung, May 28, 2009 (6:53pm)

The Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act of 2009 (111th) would strengthen whistleblower protections by extending protection to employees at the Transportation Security Administration and by allowing for extensive review of a whistleblower’s claim. The legislation would also bar agencies from enforcing nondisclosure policies or investigating a whistleblower in retaliation. Because federal employees are often in the best position to expose waste, fraud, and abuse in government, they should enjoy the right to full protection to avoid repercussions for their honesty.
