The intent of this bill if to effectively overturn two recent Supreme Court decisions, Iqbal v. Ashcroft and Bell Atlantic Corp. v. Twombly. These decisions made pleading requirements, which must be met in order to bring a case to court, more stringent and difficult to meet. The bill has led to some strange bedfellows opposing it. The Chamber of Commerce released a letter signed by other large business organizations, but also groups devoted to civil justice.
