Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) — Kay Bailey Hutchison of Dallas was born in Galveston, Texas on July 22, 1943 and raised in La Marque, Texas. Hutchison graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas School of Law. Her early career includes service as the Vice Chair of the National Transportation Safety Board, senior vice president and general counsel of RepublicBank Corporation, co-founder of Fidelity National Bank of Dallas, owner of McCraw Candies, Inc., and political and legal correspondent for KPRC-TV Houston. Hutchison was elected to the U.S. Senate on June 5, 1993 by special election to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Sen. Lloyd Bentsen. She is married to Ray Hutchison.
