September 18, 2014The House of Representatives on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, approved an amendment from Rep. Howard "Buck" McKeon (R-Calif.) to authorize one plank of President Obama's strategy for combating the Islamic State. The amendment would let the Obama administration provide weapons, training, and other forms of assistance to soldiers in Syria who are fighting against militant groups in the region including the Islamic State and the Bashar al-Assad regime.
