Sen. Kevin De Leon selected to Chair Democratic Caucus

Dec. 7, 2010 -- California State Senator Kevin De Leon (D-Los Angeles) has been chosen by Senate leader Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento) to lead the Senate Democratic Caucus, according to the LA Times. De Leon's appointment fills a vacancy created by the passing of Sen. Jenny Oropeza in October.

According to his campaign website, De Leon has been a member of the State Allocation Board and was chairman of the California State Assembly's Appropriations Committee during his second term in that body. Senator De Leon is originally from San Diego.
