It is backed by state & local government workers unions, who gave an average of $43,203 to senators voting 'yes,' 13 times more than the $3,250 they gave to those who voted 'no,' based on a August 20, 2010 Senate floor vote. The same treatment was given to assembly members as well. State & local government workers unions gave $53,942 to assemblymembers voting 'yes' compared to the $2,231 given to assemblymembers voting 'no,' based on a August 26, 2010 Assembly floor vote.
